December at Grove Farm is a tapestry of rituals: decorating the tree on the first day of the month, welcoming family and friends from near and far, long country walks, and evenings spent by the fire.

This year is especially meaningful, as it’s been one whole year of our home being scented with the fragrances and formulas I have poured my heart into creating for GROVE England. For me, scent has always been deeply tied to memory - especially at Christmas. It’s the reason I began this collection in the first place: to create products that feel like home, warmth, and belonging. GROVE England was born from these quiet moments.

Christmas Begins

Christmas officially begins for us on the 1st of December, the day the tree goes up and Christmas music is finally allowed. We decorate together as a family, carols from King’s College, Cambridge drifting through the house. Decorating is a family event but I do, quietly, have the final say.

As we unwrap each decoration, the house is filled with the grounding scent from our Anemone candles, warm layers of white florals and woods that feel cosy and enveloping. Scent is essential for me at Christmas, candles burning from morning to evening, ensuring anyone who steps inside instantly feels cocooned and welcomed.

Morning Moments

Throughout December, mornings at the farm have their own rhythm. I start each day with a quick, energising shower, using the Anemone Body Wash. It has been consciously formulated with clove bud oil for warmth and circulation, and cucumber fruit extract to brighten tired winter skin. It was important to me that this product did more than cleanse - it needed to prepare the body and mind for the day, especially during these colder months.

December’s wardrobe has always been a favourite - soft knits and deeper colours. Before heading downstairs, I spritz Anemone Eau de Parfum onto my pulse points so it can bloom slowly as the day unfolds.

Our mornings are spent wrapping orders from the day before, layers of tissue paper conceal orders intended for gifting, and your seasonal wishes are written carefully onto satisfyingly thick notecards to be sent to each lucky recipient.

It’s such a joyful task and our small team is fuelled by steaming cups of tea and endless biscuits.

Afternoon Walks

Most afternoons, I take Lola out for her walk to drop off stacks of packages to the post office - It’s the perfect way to take a break from work and blow away the cobwebs.

One of the constant joys of founding GROVE England is having lots of tubes of hand cream around the house and in various coat pockets - my hands have never been softer!

I've gotten into the habit of massaging Anemone Hand Cream into my hands before we step outside to protect against the winter weather, plus it smells beautiful too so it acts as a little fragrance top up!

I like to reapply when we get home too, to nourish and restore and prevent them from drying out. A little goes a long way so a tube tends to last me a long time.

Quiet Evening Rituals

When the day winds down, and Lily is tucked into bed after her story, I carve out a moment just for myself.

This time of year it means snatching a few precious moment to wrap gifts. This Christmas, I’m so excited to gift our new Anemone hampers - they feel like the ultimate gift from the heart. I've chosen the Anemone Indulgence for both my Mother and Mother-in-Law - I am certain this will be a hit for the ladies that seemingly have everything!

For my best friends, I'm gifting the Anemone Restore - they deserve a moment of relaxation and I'm hoping this hamper will encourage just that.

After the last of the presents are wrapped and hidden away, a warm bath has become my December sanctuary.

Just a few drops of Anemone Bath Oil swirled into the water, transforms the bathroom into my own spa. This oil is my absolute favourite, I designed it to be more than a fragrance - I wanted it to soften skin, calm the mind, and leave a veil of scent that lasts long after the bath is over.

Wrapped in my cosiest pyjamas, I join my husband Patrick, and dog Lola by the fire. The room flickers with candlelight, the tree sparkles softly in the corner, and the whole house feels like it’s exhaling. These are the moments that I treasure: slow, comforting, full of warmth and presence.

Christmas Eve Hosting

Christmas Eve is our big celebration, especially for our Spanish side of the family. We serve a seafood platter - usually ordered from Wright Brothers - and glasses of fizz before supper. Everyone dresses up, the house is gleaming, and the table glows under candlelight.

After supper, we slip into new pyjamas (mine from Sian Esther) and prepare everything for Father Christmas. Even as adults, these small rituals feel magical.

The Grand Finale

Christmas Day begins gently: stockings opened in bed, Lola stretched at our feet, and the smell of breakfast drifting up the stairs. If the weather behaves, we take a long, crisp dog walk before returning to cook lunch together.

This year we’re breaking tradition with a Beef Wellington, followed by a generous cheese board from Paxton & Whitfield. The table will be styled with linens and serving pieces from Rebecca Udall, glassware from Summerill & Bishop—and I’m secretly hoping the fish decanter on my wish list makes a surprise appearance.

Presents are opened with champagne and canapés, followed by a leisurely late lunch. The evening always returns to simplicity: pyjamas, the fire, an old film, and a sense of relaxed contentment that seems to settle over the whole house.

A Grove Christmas

Christmas at Grove Farm is a month-long journey - decorations, gatherings, and quiet moments all woven together. Creating GROVE England was my way of bottling those moments: the scents that make home feel like home, and the products that turn everyday rituals into something more meaningful.

This Christmas, our house isn’t just decorated - it’s scented, warmed, and cocooned in the very things that inspired the brand from the beginning.

I wish you a month filled with comfort, beauty, and all the small rituals that make December so magical.

with love,
Laura x
